Classic Italian dish with Tomatoes, Bread, Basil and a good Olive Oil based dressing
This is very simple and is terrific if the ingredients are good - flavoursome tomatoes, fresh basil, crusty bread and excellent olive oil.
Cut the tomatoes into eighths, and put into salad bowl. Chop the fresh basil and add three or four tablespoonfuls to the tomatoes.
Cut the stale baguette into half, then cut odd pieces around an inch/2.5 centimetres wide. Cut these pieces in half and put into a colinder
Picture . Just sprinkle a little water on to the bread pieces using your hand to flick the water from a tap.
Make a dressing with five tablespoonfuls of good peppery olive oil and one tablespoonful of wine vinegar. Season to taste with a little salt. Add the bread to the tomatoes and toss in about four tablespoonfuls of the dressing

Put the salad aside and covered for an hour or two and then serve
