Top and tail the turnips, and cut into very thin slices using a mandoline if you have one. Put the turnip slices into an ovenproof tray with a splash of olive oil. Season the turnip both sides with salt and fresh black pepper and cook in the oven at 190°C/Reg5-400°F/200°C for ten minutes or so, turning once, until tender but not mushy
